When you machined the slugs to take up for the lash adjustment, did you delete the spring and check valve?
Also, did you have to do anything with oil?
im doing the same with an n51 head im fitting to an n54. im wondering if having oil pressure still present in the lifter location will push the lifter up or if it will just flow around to the outlet that emptys on the valve spring?
I've been using Tomei solid lifters. Apart from heat clearances- you need to find proper size shims- they are just drop in stuff.
