I have done an LS swap, no catalytic converters. I only have two O2 bungs for 2 OEM sensors. I will install a wideband O2 sensor to datalog while tuning. Do I need a 3rd bung for this sensor or can I utilize one of the 2 already installed. I will be using HP tuning.

You don’t need a 3rd bung. Since you’re cat-less, both OEM O2 bungs are upstream and see clean exhaust. Just use one of them for the wideband while you’re tuning.

The better choice is the bung closest to the engine (as long as it’s not too close*—aim for at least ~8–12” after the merge/collector so the sensor doesn’t overheat). That’ll give you the fastest and most accurate sample.

During tuning with HP Tuners, you’ll be in open-loop or closed-loop disabled anyway, so pulling one of the narrowbands temporarily won’t hurt anything. Once you’re done dialing in VE/MAF, swap the narrowband back in.

A 3rd bung is only needed if you want the wideband permanently installed or want to keep closed-loop active while road-tuning. For a simple LS swap, reusing the factory bung is perfectly fine.

thanks
