Hey folks,

So the situation is following, got a car from US with not unmerried COBB AP, which does not allow me to tune it as it's locked off read/write.

Got spare ECU from same WRX but CVT one, ECU hardware seems to be identical. Solved immo, but currently seeking stock lf9c001p rom, which may be flashed with PCMFlash. Would appreciate sharing or other advice.

Never mind, ecuflash has flag for checking if ECU is the same, needed to unflag :)

Update, apparently not solved

EcuFlash log:

If anyone knows what to do - please help.

COBB will flash an ECU back to stock for a reasonable fee.

Using a CVT ECU in a non CVT vehicle of that era will cause a number of issues, so I'd stick with the correct ECU.

I've tried reaching out to COBB, they adviced to buy Accessport and flash with that. Even if I wanted to, I'm in Ukraine, we dont have those.

Buying an Accessport from COBB would allow you to revert the US ECU you have to stock in the field yourself in minutes, so they were giving you another option.

My suggestion was to have COBB flash your ECU to stock for you. You'd have to ship the ECU there and back, and as mentioned they do charge a fee for this.

Either option is possible, but I felt sending the ECU in would make more sense for you since it's less money and you seem to want to tune the vehicle with something called PCMFlash.

If you decide to have COBB flash the ECU back to stock, you can email their support team and request to set up an ECU repair to flash back to stock, ask what that will cost you with shipping, and include your address.

Well, I found a company in Ukraine who unlocked it for me for $250, waiting it back tomorrow actually. It would have been much easier if I found womeone with COBB AP for same Subaru to unlock it, but I didn't. They didn't uncover their approach but I can guess it's something like getting in through j-tag as listed here and flashing in stock ROM. So waiting for it, and then subie tuning jorney begins...
