Hi everyone,
I'm trying to setup some math channels for my C127. I have Izze Racing IR tire surface temp sensors at all four corners of my car and they are currently configured to provide 16 channels per tire. I have Display Creator and I/O upgrade on my C127 as well.
What I would like to do is take four channels from each tire and average those temperature values to output as a single temperature value for each tire. The logic behind this is that I'd like to log the tire surface temp data with all 16 channels for post session analysis, but I'd also like to have a parameter displayed on the dash that shows an average surface temp for each tire. This is primarily a time attack car, and knowing when my tires are in the operating temperature window would be handy data to have in front of me while on track.
In full disclosure, I am new to using Motec displays. So, if this is a simple task, my apologies in advance.
Thanks!
Not simple with a club dash (which has less internal math capabilities than the "Pro" C187). However, the Display Creator may be your solution as you can create several math channels (look under Channels & Functions tab), -- I'm not sure of the processing speed, or if you would run into limitations -- but I would start there.
After looking at your data, you will probably find that you can just use one of the center channels (or maybe the inner or outer channels) as your indicator that the tire is the the operating window. This would be the simple "good enough" solution if doing all of the math is problematic.
Thanks David! I’ve been playing around in Creator the last couple of days, but I can’t figure out how I can take the current config that I have loaded on my C127 and bring it into Display Creator as a new project. Any tips on how to do that?
You can only do that if the Display Creator (DC) config was loaded into the dash (that is an option when you send a DC config). If you didn't create the configuration, then you need to request it from the creator, or just create it from scratch.
I'm just using one of the pre-made Motec configs that are available in Display Manager. I'm assuming, based on your reply, that those configs can't be pulled into DC?
I've already imported all of my DBC data and assigned channels, setup SLM, etc. Was hoping to not have to start over from scratch. Seems like a bit of a "miss" on Motec's parts if they won't allow import of the pre-made dashes into DC. I'm happy with the pre-made dash's, I just need to try to add the math channels we've discussed. Something that should be a relatively simple process becomes a multiple day endeavor if starting form scratch.
When you create a new page in Display Creator, there are many templates similar to the built-in display to choose from. So not much of a miss. If you wish to send me your current dash config, I will be happy to convert it to use display creator, and provide a DC config that matches and adds the math channels for you to try.
