I am wondering if I missed a step when I went through the Sniper 2 practical example. The fuel tuning focused on adjusting the V/E table to minimize the CL compensation, which I believe ensures we have an accurate estimate of the engine V/E.

However, that optimization is based on hitting the selected AFR that we chose during the setup. Once the V/E table is complete, does the AFR table need to be tuned?

You can revisit the AFR target table if you are trying to get the best fuel economy, or perhaps the maximum power for a particular type of racing. In general the targets are setup based on experience and there is very little to be gained -- but if you have specific goals -- then it's one of the tools you have to work with.

You tune the VE to "figure out" the the actual physical air flow model of the engine at those load points.

Your AFR targets are much more arbitrary, you can set them to what you want at anytime, within reason
