Are standalone ECUs typically one fuel model (Ignition time) or the other (VE)? If an ECU offered both models, tuners have a choice to choose which one to use?
There isn't a fixed rule. Many ECUs will only provide one mode of operation but many (link and Haltech for example) offer both VE or injection time as options.
