Tuning using Timing we are tuning using the degrees and you say that you like to be in the negative degrees does that mean that top dead centre is 0° and anything that is before that is in the negative Degrees?

- numbers are advance or before TDC and + numbers are Retardard after TDC

As Ross said, the datum - reference point everything is measured from - is the point where the #1 cylinder is at Top Dead Centre. Anthing before that is Before, adtanced, or positive and anything after that is After, retarded or negative.
I'm not sure where you got that reference from, though - if you could please clarify?
