Hi Andre , I am using a Motec M 800 ecu on my race car and I would like to know how can I check If a sensor is wired in reverse polarity and what is the effect on the motor if the crank sensor is fitted with a magnetic pickup.

With the M800 ecu you can use the 'Ref/Sync Capture' function which you'll find under 'Utilities'. This basically offers a built in oscilloscope function and you can capture the waveforms during cranking. This will let you visualise the waveform and confirm the trigger edge. If you have this wrong then you will find the ignition timing drifts as the rpm changes.
