I wish you guys would have shown the adjustments instead of editing them out.

First you adjust the pre-load on the spring to 1/3 the total damper length by spinning the top collars and compressing the spring. Then you find your interference and adjust the lower shock body so the wheel can’t possibly contact the inner fender, then you bring that distance up by 1/3? Now it will contact the fender! This isn’t making sense.

I’m doing this on my BRZ now and I’m not following this.

I think something got lost in the editing but I’m not sure what.

In this situation you are either prioritizing the preload of the spring, leaving that realtively fixed and adjusting the ride height with the Body length, or you are setting the bumpstop height to prevent any type of wheel contact at the wheel diameters maximum travel. Then adjusting the spring pearch will set the ride height of the vehicle.

In motorsports terms, these adjustments are significantly limiting on their own. Adjustable shock mounting locations, ability to adjust the physical dmaper components, and moveable pickup points would all aid in setting up your vehicle. In street applications, you just have to hope your wheel and tire package put you in a useable range for all of the available adjustments.

Setting a generic spring preload and then setting the bumpstop height will typically result in less than desireable ride height. You need to start with one or the other.
