Hi guys, I'm building a turbo BMW S50B32.
I am removing the vanos system, and installing locking gears. In this situation how do you know where to permanently set the cam timing.
If you're locking the VANOS then I'll assume you're swapping to an aftermarket cam? If so, the cam manufacturer should be able to give you the correct information to degree the cams. If you're still running stock cams then I'd really advise you retain the VANOS as it's a significant advantage.
If you have no information then a reasonable starting point for cam centrelines would be around 110 on the intake and 112-114 on the exhaust. You can then adjust from there on the dyno to optimise the power band.
