what exactly were you using to set the lash to "0" and can you possibly show the set up for this step? thanks
Unfortunately with this engine it's a bit of a pain since you'll need to temporarily adjust the shims to achieve zero lash. The shims in this case sit on top of the valves between the rocker and the valve tip. You can actually get away with removing the suitable feeler blade from your set and locating it between the rocker and shim. It takes a bit of messing around to get them in a location where they will stay put without falling out as you move the valves through their full range of motion but it's possible.
