Would it be acceptable to have ignition coils grounded to the cylinder head and everything else (ECU, PDM, Battery) grounded to the chassis? I understand that Star Point Grounding means everything grounds to a single point, but I also have read that the ignition coils should ground in a place to have the shortest path to the spark plugs.
Yes, that is a good strategy. Some smart coils have two grounds, one or the signal (ECU), and one for the engine (Cylinder Head).
