I saw that you did not put any assembly lube on the valve shims (either side) on the vvl cylinder head. When checking lash I didn't, but during final assembly on my old solid lifter DET head I did use a light film of assembly lube (on rocker pads as well). Is this not advisable? I never had issues on the DET head, but that doesn't make it right, lol.
It actually is advisable and you did well to spot that. We have applied lubricant to all the contact points during the final assembly. Unfortunately due to the way we film these worked examples some minor details can get missed out.
