I'm curious if the procedure for bedding rings described in the course would differ for bedding rings on aluminum Fiber Reinforced Matrix (FRM) sleeves. FRM is what Honda calls aluminum sleeves that have been hardened/reinforced and used to reduce cylinder wall friction. I know other manufacturers do this too, but I don't know what they call it, if they call it something different.
The J37A4 I'm rebuilding after taking the course has FRM sleeves, as does my S2000 engine which will eventually be rebuilt as well. On this 3.7 all of the ring gaps were very close to new spec, so it doesn't really hurt my feelings to reuse them, but it would be nice to go in new along with all the bearings I'm replacing.
