when you remove the cat from a oem motor you loose hp from back pressure loss, if i build the cylinder head and buy a upgraded intake, when i upgrade the exhaust will i still loose hp with the cat removed?
Hi David, exhaust system design is a very complex topic however the theory that back pressure is beneficial or necessary is incorrect. Removing a catalytic convertor from the exhaust may show a small reduction in back pressure and it also may show a small improvement in power. You'd be very unlikely to lose power.
