Hi!

Is the real lifting and supporting point the pinch weld itself or is it the rocker area around the pinch weld?

Is the pinch weld there just to hold the OEM scissor jack from shifting in or out... Or can it take forces?

I searched online before posting, but everyone seems to have a different opinion.

I have checked the OEM scissor jack of my GT86 and it doesn't lift by the pinch weld, but rather by applying force on the rocker panel.

I want to make an adapter similar to this one. (See picture attached please :) )

I don't know if I have to make the groove deep to lift the car by the rocker panels or not very deep to lift it by the pinch weld.

Any input?

It applies it to the underside of the rocker panel, on both sides of the pinch weld.

If it was applied directly to the pinched fold it would be expected to fold it over, or even split it.

Thank you Gord for the answer!

It seems pretty reasonable to me too!

I don't understand why a lot of people claim with confidence that the pinch weld is supposed to take the weight (and, therefore, the forces).

By the way, I have decided to buy a set wheel cribs to support my car by the four tyres for all jobs that do not require to take the wheels off.

Even more stable!

And use the classic jack stands (with an adapter) for brake pads and brake bleeding jobs.

Thank you :)
