Hi all. This if the first time I encounter this type of alternator. I have a BMW alternator that has two pins, but only one wire coming out of the connector. after a quick search online, I believe this wire should be connected to the ECU to any pwm capable output. I want to make sure that my conclusion is correct
and I want to make sure that using a 22 awg tefzel wire for this connection wouldn't cause any problems
Wha would happen if I choose to not connect the alternator wire to the ECU, would the alternator charge at a fixed 14V?

It is called BMW Smart Charge.
Try leaving the pin not connected. A fixed voltage is to be expected. Likely 13.8 V, depending on the type of battery connected.
Also try to feed in a PWM signal, elaborate what percentage of PWM. You won't damage if duty is wrong. AWG 22 is plenty.
Caution, If the PWM sends maximum demand, voltage output can reach 18 Volt.
