Hi,

I noticed that some ECU brand choose to go for differential regarding VR sensors and knock sensors (which improove signal integrity and reduce global "sensor" ground noise) vs single; one side is in fact reference to the "sensor" ground (easier design and less pin count I guess).

What's your point on this ? Is it a mandatory required point in your design choice ? did you ever experience issue that required going to differential ?

Did you make an additionnal circuit to go from differential to single ?

Maybe I'm just overthiking as I didn't find any back to back comparaison so it's hard to get a "feeling"

Note that I don't have any tuning experience but I have some electronic background.

Thanks

I have never experienced a problem in more that 20 years of using VR sensors with one side connected to a signal ground. The ECU's have programmable thresholds to account for the amplitude of the signal. If an ECU has differential inputs and I can use them, I will. But my belief is you are overthinking this...
