Hi Guys,
In my many years of reading SAE papers (starting with the classic Honda RA168E paper - http://papers.sae.org/890877/) I have noticed that they refer to an equivalence ratio, as opposed to lambda or an AF/R.
Does anyone know why SAE use this value as opposed to lambda?
Cheers,
Matt
Equivalence Ratio is just the inverse of Lambda (ie. Eq = 1/Lambda). It is thought of as the percentage of excess fuel relative to stoichiometric combustion.
Thanks David, that makes sense as it's usually mentioned in the context of BSFC.
