Hi, the question is focus to compare the flexibility of the different maps that you can use on the motec M1 with the offered package from motec, GPA and GPR for example. Compared to something like emtron, that is very flexible when you want to make your own corrections with your own tables, for example added fuel if EGT get to high, or pull some ignition timing if the fuel pressure drop, or whatever you can think of. I do not see that option with any of the GPA or GPR packages of motec, I know it can be done with the M1 Build software, but for the time that would take, it sounds better just to go with the emtron. I would like to know your experience on this subject. I am big fan of the motec knock control, and the closeloops (fuel and boost) works really well with not much time to be invested from the tuner, so I am just weighing the different options on the market.
While the GPA / GPR packages don't allow you to choose the axis of some compensation tables, usually the tables to do what is needed are available. For example, you use the Exhaust Temperature Fuel Mixture Aim to specify a rich target at high EGT temps. You also have a Coolant Temperature Fuel Mixture Aim with it's own targets. The richest of the tables will be used.
While there is no table to change ignition timing with a drop in fuel pressure -- with the M1 fueling model there is no need to do this -- even with a fuel pressure drop, the injector characterization increases the injector pulse width to compensate. I've been amazed when a car run perfectly even with a 10 psi drop in fuel presssure and running at 10.5 volts. You can build in a safety, so if there is a significant fuel pressure drop, you speed limit the engine (even stopping it if you wish).
With the M1, you don't have to use the MoTeC GPx packages, there are other vendors that supply package with some more flexible compensation tables, like John Reed Racing, or MoTeC USA Sportscar packages. You can examine these package to see what features they have and how to configure them.
And you have the M1 Build option (or hiring someone to use M1 Build for you), or the really wild ideas that you might have.
