I'm currently in the process of choosing a Standalone ECU to run a V8 engine which in factory form has 4 Bosch KS4 Knock Sensors positioned in the "V" of the engine. One sensor in between each cylinder pair, Cylinders 1 & 2, 3 & 4, 5 & 6, 7 & 8. Most ECU's I've come across have one or two channels for knock input.

Can multiple knock sensors be wired together and fed to one input? As in 4 sensors to one input or 2 sensors to one input?

I'm not concerned with individual cylinder knock control, but would like the ECU be able to effectively detect knock and retard ignition timing on all cylinders for engine protection in the event knock does occur.

I'm currently leaning towards the Adaptronic Modular family of ECU's due to integration with the factory systems of my vehicle.

No, you can't wire multiple sensors up to a single input. 4 sensors is potentially a nice option for the ultimate in detection but also not essential. I'd use one sensor per bank as most ECUs that can handle an 8 cylinder engine with sequential injection will offer dual knock inputs.

Thanks Andre,

I'm strongly considering using this Adaptronic Modular ECU(https://adaptronicecu.com/collections/all-ecus/products/emod013-rx8-s1) due to integration with my car. They've already done the work of integrating it with the factory CAN system so I would be able to retain the factory instrument cluster, throttle pedal, ABS, Traction Control, and Cruise Control. My only concern is knock control with only one knock input.

What are your thoughts on this?

Any opinions on this? I want to make sure I'm choosing the correct ECU the first time around.

Thanks!
