Hi everyone.
I have a 2007 Fiesta ST with a NA 2.3 duratec in using a SCS delta D800 ECU (uses injector pulse width not VE)
Stock the 2.3 run's 9:5:1 comp but I am planning on rebuilding it in august using forged eagle rods and supertech 12:5:1 pistons.
I plan on switching from a plenum inlet to a set of ITB's which means swapping from MAP to TPS for the load input and a entire new map. Till then to run the engine in I am going to use the inlet, are there any changes I should make to my mapping?
Is there a difference in fueling despite the amount of air being the same?
Should I take 2-3 degrees off the entire map to be safe? I don't have knock control at this time (ECU can do it) but I do have a KS-3 knock display and sensor so I can keep an eye on it.
Thanks everyone :)
Rich
The biggest concern you may face is the engine may be prone to knocking with the higher compresion ratio. There's a range of factors to consider including the octane of the fuel and the rest of the engine's mechanical specification though so there's no guarantee the engine will knock with 12.5:1 compression. I'd use the performance with the lower 9.5:1 comp to guide your tuning - i.e was it knock limited previously? Ultimately the wideband and knock detection equipment will guide you with your tuning but I'd certainly suggest removing a few degrees timing while you get the engine dialled in.
