Hello all.
Is there a performance benefit to removing the secondary spark from a twin spark tune at higher rpm/load?
I am dealing with Harley-Davidson Milwaukee eight engines. And generally at a point of spark advancement the engine picks up knock and will removing timing.
Through reading some literature I have found that the twin spark engines can be more susceptible to knock, and thought there may be benefit to removing the spark from one plug at a given point.
Thanks in advance.
Twin spark usually allows later spark timing for peak pressure at or near ideal on a chamber that would otherwise be compromised and more likely to suffer knock before torque gain with timing increase drops off. Provided the plugs are the right heat range and there are not any sharp points in the chamber you should make more power firing both plugs than just one with less total advance.
