Hi everyone, I am finalizing a build on a Nissan Patrol TB48DE using a MaxxECU Sport. My goal is to run Fully Sequential Ignition (to support R35 GTR coils at 4.0ms dwell) while retaining the ability to switch back to a 'Stock Sensor Only' map for redundancy in the desert.

The Hardware:

  • Primary Trigger: Ross Performance 36-2 Crank Wheel (Hall Effect).

  • Home Signal: Stock Nissan Optical Sensor (Inner Track / 120° signal).

The Conflict: The Stock Nissan Inner Track has 6 slots of variable widths (the standard Nissan CAS pattern). If I set the MaxxECU Trigger System to 'Missing Tooth' (for the Ross crank), can the software correctly filter/decode the 'Nissan 6-slot' pattern on the Home Input to identify Cylinder #1 for sequential sync?

My Concern: Does the 'Missing Tooth' mode strictly require a Single Pulse cam signal? If so, I would be forced to modify/cut the stock optical disc to a single slot, which would destroy my ability to revert to the stock 'Nissan 360' backup map if the crank sensor fails.

Has anyone successfully run this 'Hybrid' setup on MaxxECU without modifying the stock disc?

Thanks!

Nissan CAS' are the bane of my current existence, and I haven't tried a hybrid system like what you're describing on any of my Maxx installs but be aware that there is a specific setting for Home using what you're planning to run called 'Nissan CAS with missing tooth crank' or the like. Give that a shot - thankfully the pattern is only used to sync on start.
