Gentlemen, have any of you run a shell bearing turbo like a 16G from Mitsu with a Turbosmart or similar oil pressure regulator.

Turbosmart regulator is set at 40psi max, I assume the lower range is near to 10psi up to 40psi, but there is not much information of the pressure range.

Originally my Eclipse had a 14G turbo, I smoked that one, and I got now a 16G turbo, the OEM lines from the 14G will not fit the 16G I have now, and I want to get my oiling to this turbo correct.

like any internet search I find different opinions, one that the 40psi Turbosmart oil press regulator is for ball bearings others that say it doesn't matter, others that say that less pressure is needed, but concrete figure backet with extensive daily driving miles/kms.

The Orifice thing, seems to me not an exact science, and seems more like an empiric thing more than a bullet proof method, because to many factors are involved on the oil supply, with this method, at least that is my opinion maybe I'm wrong.

either way, have any of you run lets say at least 20000km with turbo shell bearing type with success with a pressure regulator or other proven method ?

Thanks for your inputs

I don't restrict that style OEM journal bearing turbo and I'd skip the pressure regulator.
