Hey,
I am looking for some feedback on our wet sump baffle box design.
We previously threw a rod, whilst simultaneously getting low oil pressure on track (in left turns) so after watching Andre's ultimate wet sump video we decided to do some modifications.
It's a Alfa Romeo 147 Twinspark 2.0 that is being built for budget endurance racing in Aus.
I cut the bottom of the sump off, and welded on a new box that massively increases the oil volume, and increases the depth of the sump by 15mm. The Oil pick up tube was also extended, so it now sits ~9mm off the bottom of the lowered sump.
I am planning on welding up a trapdoor baffle box, and had cardboarded it up, and wanted some feedback on the design. To me it seems that the pick up is very far to the left side, hence when turning left it can quickly starve. I have written the measurements from the side of the baffle box to the inside of the oil sump wall.
Do we think this design will work? Or should I look at bending a piece of tubing and rewelding the pickup with a curved tube to be more centralized in the sump?
