I am rebuilding a 1200 cc engine form my VW beetle.
I have stript the engine and find som wear on the wrist pins. I wonder i this were pattern is normal an what's causing it (se attached pictures)?

that doesn't look like wear -- can you actually measure a diameter difference in the spots with different surface finish?
I have not measure it yet.
