suggestion to splice the starter motor cable (is broken i have to fix) 0AWG or 50mm2 section. I have to cut it and replace the end that the insulation material has gone.

If I couldn't replace the wire, then would just crimp ring terminals on each part, then bolt the terminals together, cover the entire section with silicon sealing tape and/or adhesive lined heat shrink.
