I just finished watching the con rod webinar, I noticed there was no mention of the X beam rod design. I only ask as I am on the fence between the H beam design and the X beam design of rods. The application in question is a 2jzgte I want to run a reasonably high rpm range to get full use out of the ported and shim less head but be able to withstand 35-40PSI in a street application that receives a lot of abuse and strip use. I am weighing up between the Pauter X beam or the Carrillo H beam, there seems to be plenty of info on the Carrillo and H beam design but not a whole lot out there in regards to Pauter or even the X beam design. Any incite into this would be much appreciated. Regards

I haven't personally had much to do with the Pauter X beam design. I've used them in one engine as the customer supplied them but the engine was a moderate powered street engine so just about any aftermarket rod would have been up to the task. There's surprisingly little information around on the X beam design. My understanding is that Pauter believe it offers advantages in terms of strength, weight and reduced windage over a conventional H beam or I beam design. Pauter is a respected manufacturer so I wouldn't be concerned running these rods. Carrillo is a well established player and their H beam rods are well known as being reliable in very high power applications.

You don't mention a power target, just a boost target. Depending on the rest of your engine configuration, the turbo size, and the fuel, this could equate to quite a wide range of power levels. I would probably clarify your exact power aims and it may be worth discussing the suitability of Pauter rods with this power level by ringing Pauter directly. Carrillo H beam rods with their CARR fasteners are well proven in 2JZ builds well in excess of 1000 whp.
