hi guys

1st post here after joining up

just watched the webinar about rotary switches and I’m going to be setting one up on my project soon

I have a 12 way 2 pole(wire) switch and I’ve pretty much figured it out the Ecu wiring side of things but was wondering if anybody knew how to set it up with the dash that when the map was changed the dash could display a message or show the current map as part of the data I’ve selected.

Im potentially thinking I need to split off the output wire from the switch and also send this to the dash and then program it this way

any ideas?

Cheers dave

I've had very little to do with the Aim dashes but I think the problem you'll have is that the CAN template in them is pretty locked down and not adjustable by the end user (otherwise you could set up a rotary switch input in the G4+ and send/receive that over CAN between ECU and dash). I think you will need to run the switch into the dash and the ECU but you just need to be careful about how you do that. If you're using a two wire switch then I'm assuming you're going to wire that into an AT input, or alternatively an AN input with an external pull up? If my guess here is right then you can tee the input into an AV input on the dash provided you don't use another pull up resistor.

In terms of configuring a message however I can't advise there as I haven't done this in Aim before.

Hi Andre thanks for replying

ok seems I have my work cut out for me then, do you think it might make the situation easier if I went to different switch style such as a 3pole type

I think you better need a 1 pole
