OK, got a question on my first stage of tune, that i want to address before moving to the next stage. I'm tunning my own VDJ79 Series with a 1VD-FTV motor using Bitedit, which has lost of modes. Which includes a 4.5" exhaust, 2" cross over pipe, larger compressor wheel turbo, large top mount intercooler, multiple hi-cyclones with a K@N filter. I have dramatically increased the airflow after my first mod (which is complicated to discuss) at low load and boost area, for example the MAF reads 110kg/ha and the standard I believe it read at around 60-70kg/ha and I've notices an increase in diesel knock. So my question is, can the polit injection get too weak or is my start of injection time off. Unfortunately, I don't have a dyno to determine the difference and would like your thoughts on want to try, before I start adding fuel and boost, or am I simple over thinking it. I don't believe adding fuel can fix the problem with the way the table are set up. Also do you have a practice example for the motor
I suspect you'll get the most improvement in NVH reduction by adjusting fuel pressure down, adding another mg or two to pilot or lowering timing a couple of degrees. Likely the added airflow is allowing fuel injection to come in very quickly at tip-in, sharply rising fuel pressure and timing - adding NVH. Just my $.02.
