Hi everyone,

As far as knock sensor-related data, what can I expect to see if my knock sensor or internal digital signal processor fails on my PnP Link G4x?

What I am trying to achieve, is that in response to a knock sensor or signal processor failure, I retard the timing to a super conservative map in knock-limited regions of my engine operation. I'm very close to the knock threshold on my tune, so hypothetically if I had a bad tank of fuel at the same time as a failure of the type I mentioned above, I want to protect my engine.

I've attached a screenshot that exemplifies what I am trying to achieve.

Assumption of example strategy: When a knock sensor or digital signal processor fails the global knock level will equal 0 because no signal is coming through.

Yes something like that will work, just be aware depending on the type of failure you would likely still have some knock level come through from induced noise that varies with RPM and load so your level that is considered a fault will likely need to be higher than zero, you would need to experiment with sensor unplugged etc to find what that looks like.

There are many options you could use to make something quite robust, just a dreamed up example below to give some ideas. This would activate virtual aux 1 if the global knock level was below 100 when the throttle was above 30%, for more than 2.0sec, the 3rd condition looking at its own status would cause it to "latch on" and not switch off until next restart. You could then use that virtual aux to switch to a safe ignition map, or switch on a 4D ign table, lower boost, activate CE lamp etc.

Edit: Stupid forum software wont link a pic now. Ill try something different.

Makes sense to me.

I hadn't realised you could set up such custom logic for map triggers.

Thank you for your help
