Wanted to get my thinking double checked, - installed some GSC S3s on my Evo III and it is now making much more boost at a given WGDC than before. 32PSI was reached previously by about 35% WGDC, now the same boost is made on 20% WGDC. Is this because the larger cams are less of a restriction at higher RPM than previously?

i am not an expert, and i didnt know the epecs of you cam and the overlap.

but if your intake cam sucks less air you probably have more boost (but less volumetric efficience?) or cam be the exaust cam has better flow and spools better the turbo. or it can be your cams degre.

Better intake side breathing will normally REDUCE boost, because that is simply a measure of the resistance to air passing through to the cylinder.

As a generalisation, you may be seeing boost coming in earlier because the overall breathing of the engine has improved more rapidly than the intke specific side - by that I mean you may have more exhaust gas being produced at the same rpm, which is driving the turbine faster/harder, which in turn is causing the impellor to pass more air into the engine.
