application:

-FSAE 26 ruleset, no heat wraps, coatings only on exhaust

-cbr600rr motor with around ~70-80 degrees of timing with 93 oct due to the restrictor, ~1600F exhaust temp

context: We have a CBR600RR restricted motor on our FSAE race car. We have no EGT data because we broke the couplers however. We are running into issues with heat from the header; it's melting everything (sensors, oil lines, the driver, etc.). We are looking into coating the ID of the headers to reduce heat transfer from the tubes. We historically used CERAKOTE C-7600 for external coating. This year, I decided to go with an ID coating using either Hi-Heat I.D. Barrier W/ Ceramic (TLHC) from Techline Coatings (or Eastwood High Temp Internal Exhaust Coating if the budget doesn't allow for Techline), and go with another compound on the OD.

My question here is: has anyone ran the TLHC coating, and what is the feedback from it? Is there a better alternative for ID?

Thanks!

How about some good external insulation?

I'm ngl we are pretty short on time, but I'll look into that for our next car, the rule states "Fibrous/absorbent material (such as header wrap) must not be used on the outside of an exhaust manifold or exhaust system." So, heat shielding is definitely legal within the rules. Thank regardless.

Unfortunate, it works so well.
