Hello everyone,

I have a 2015 Mercedes-Benz W205 manual transmission with a Euro 6 emissions system, and I live in a region where the fuel quality is very poor—typically around 90-92 octane. Unfortunately, this causes constant check engine light issues and performance problems. I understand that the vehicle was designed for higher-quality fuel (95+ octane), and I am looking for a way to adjust the emissions system to make the car compatible with lower-octane fuel.

I have access to tools like WinOLS, Xentry, and OpenPort, but I am not an expert. My goals are:

  1. Reduce sensitivity to lower-octane fuel to prevent detonation/knocking.
  2. Adjust emissions parameters (e.g., NOx, EGR, or lambda maps) to handle the poorer combustion characteristics of the fuel.
  3. Avoid long-term engine damage and improve overall drivability.
Here are my specific questions:

  1. Which maps or parameters in WinOLS should I focus on for lower-octane compatibility?
  2. Are there any specific tips for tuning this engine (M274) or adapting it for poor fuel?
Thank you for your help!

Adiya,

What check engine codes are you getting specifically?

Starting with that information will narrow down what's needed.
