Hello. I have a VW Golf GTI EA888 gen3, a stock turbocharger, and a stock exhaust system. I also have an external wideband LM2 lambda sensor. Could you tell me how and where to properly install it during tuning to get more accurate data? Thank you)
There isn't a single place where you 'must' fit the sensor and in a modern cramped engine bay, often your decision is driven by where you have sufficient room rather than what is deemed perfect. In saying that I'd generally aim for a location around 500 mm from the turbo outlet and pre cat (this part can get tricky with cat location). If you're mounting it to a section of exhaust that is running horizontal under the car then make sure you mount the sensor above horizontal (between 9 o'clock and 3 o'clock). If you mount it below horizontal then sensor life may be compromised by moisture during cold starts.
