The Honda knock control is similar to many OE ECUs where it essentially takes a raw noise input that's filtered at the frequency knock occurs at and then compares that to a threshold vs rpm (since the engine noise signal increases with rpm). Basically if the noise level is below the threshold the ECU considers the engine isn't knocking. As usual, I suggest verifying the knock detection with audio knock detection equipment.
