Hi everyone,
We have a wrx gc8 rally car which has been upgraded from M4 to M84. The issues we are having is No spark on cranking.
Testing the outputs comes back okay. But no love when trying to get the engine to fire.
At this point I'm a tad lost as to why it is happening.
Any ideas or even a base start file would be awesome!
Please help!
Cheers
Luke
Tell us what you've done regarding setting up the Ref/Sync? Does it display RPM while cranking? Are you getting the engine to sync? If you clear the errors after you start to crank, do any Ref/Sync errors come back?
Have you done a Ref/Sync capture? If so, post that along with your config so we can take a look at the setup.
After some more problem solving we found that the ecu had been wired incorrectly.
To confirm does the ecu wiring work in the firing order input eg. Ign 1,3,4,2 or will it always fire Ign 1,2,3,4? in turn the Ign outputs are to be wired in the desired firing order? It is running sequential fire.
With the Motec Mx00 series of ECUs, both the ignition and injector outputs need to be wired in firing order - for the EJ20 it's 1-3-2-4 (a little different to an inline 4 cylinder btw).
So in this instance IGN1/INJ1 go to cylinder 1, IGN2/INJ2 go to cylinder 3 and so on. This is documented in Motec's wiring diagrams which can be found in the M84 manual.
