Just a quick question,
In the attached pictures, I see what looks like casting flash. I believe those are just oil drains. This is right next to the main bearings.
Should I grind these out or leave them be? The engine has already seen 230K KM but this rebuild will demand more power.
What are your thoughts?

I'd grind these off as a matter of course. In fairness though they look pretty substantial and aren't likely to be in danger of breaking free. It'll take all of 5 minutes to clean them up if you are already rebuilding the engine then there's really no reason not to.
