Nitromethane can provide massive gains in power compared to methanol which is why it's used in the fastest cars in the world (top fuel dragsters). It comes with some significant downsides. For one you will need to supply a lot more fuel by volume in order to run an engine on nitro since the stoichiometric AFR is 1.7:1. It is also very difficult to ignite so your ignition system needs to be up to the task. This is why you'll see top fuel engines fitted with dual 44 amp mags.
