In the case of an RB engine, do I set the timing on the engine via CAS to 15deg or so, and then start tuning the ignition table?
Or do I set the CAS to 0 and start with 15deg on the ignition map?
Also, does the values on the ignition map represent ignition angle?
Hello, the idea of setting base timing is to match the ecu timing to the engine, this will mean when you see 15 deg in the laptop you will actually have 15 deg at the engine. this is one of the very first things that must be set before doing any other changes to a map, in almost all aftermarket ecus like Link Motec Haltech, etc there is a ( set base timing ) icon where you adjust the offset number in the software until the timing light reads the same as the ecu
If you were tuning a factory Ecu then you would adjust the case sensor to achieve the same result.
