Hi Everyone
I'm currently trying to help someone start his long term project by calibrating the ECM.
The engine is a 2JZ with 1050ID injectors and all the basic sensors.
He called mentioning the engine is running extremely rich and fouling the plug.
I went to his place and confirm the setting were accurate in the Wizard. Selected injectors are ok, MAP sensor is ok (5bar) and matches the barometric values. Tried starting the engine and the car is running extremely rich (black smoke) and I'm unable to make it run properly (always too rich even with extremely low VE values). The fuel pressure on the gauge is showing 3bar/43psi with the engine off.
Currently it seems like the wideband (4.2) is inaccurate and always showing 1.0 lambda (I suspect it died trying to run the engine extremely rich for a long time). A new sensor will be installed. The wideband feedback is NOT enabled and I don't think should interfere with this concern. The IAT values seem a little off (2-3 degrees C)
The warm up table should not be the issue as the values are not extreme at all. Injection setup is sequential. No fuel pressure sensor is installed and the option is not selected and should use a static value of 3bar.
I was wondering if you guys would have any inputs for this concern as I'm relatively new to engine calibration and certainly with AEM infinity (506 in this case).
Regards
Is the fuel pressure regulator referencing the manifold pressure? If not, then you could be running at 3.5bar or greater differential pressure and the ECU thinks it's got 3 bar. What is the MAP value at idle?
Make sure there are not some other compensations that you aren't expecting adding extra fuel.
That said, VE is just a number and unless the values are in the single digits, there are always lower numbers to be used that should result in a leaner condition.
