Great to see an example, where WINols is used, and where it´s a stock ECU which is remapped. I´ve got a couple of questions, which keeps me away from fully understanding the relationship between the two tables (KFMIRL and KFMIOP).

1. The Z-axis (data) in KFMIRL is cylinderfill, and with a simple calculation we can convert it into boost pressure. So far so good. On the other hand the KFMIOP is a percentage of torque request (in the Z-axis), which then is corresponding to the load from the KFMIRL. But if this is the case, then the KFMIOP should say 100% in the cells where the KFMIRL says 200 (maximum load). But it does not. But how is then the relationsship between the two tables? I fully understand we need to update the load axis on the KFMIOP, to make it suit the new loads from the KFMIRL.

2. The "Maximum engine load" tables (6 pcs) - In the example André says it only is active when knock appearing, but I don´t think that is the case. Are those tables not overruling the KFMIRL at all times?

Thanks in advance :)

Simon

Hi Simon, sorry for the slow reply.

1. Just to be clear, the simple calculation is only going to give you an approximation of the boost pressure. It's going to be close but not absolutely perfect. The maximum value in the KFMIRL of 96% is a hangover from the stock calibration. I can't tell you why Bosch decided to use the value 96% instead of 100% but that is what the stock calibration looks like. You absolutely can change this to 100% if you prefer but it'll have no affect on the operation. Also while changes to KFMIRL do require corresponding changes to the inverse KFMIOP table, there is some wiggle room in this before the ECU will throw a DTC and run in limp mode.

2. There are essentially two sets of maximum load tables - One set is active under normal operation and the others are active during continuous knocking. These tables DO over ride the requested cylinder fill at all times but the ECU will decide which limitation tables to use based on the knock level.

I hope that helps.
