Relationship between AFR and Injection Timing

Hello,

Given the above interesting demo, I have the below understanding:

We aim to have a richer AFR in order to gain on Injection Timing in order to gain more Torque and Power.

Is the above understanding correct?

The aim is to find where the injection timing produces a richer mixture so that in turn we can remove fuel and get a fuel saving. It is also advisable to monitor torque as often we will see a small but noticeable improvement here too.
