Good morning,

I have my Galant running well on a base map I've made, but something is bothering me about it. The only method I've been able to have the engine run smoothly has been to set the output offset to 3. I have back probed the leads again to make sure the ignition assignments match (Denso coil on plug.)

Being that it runs smooth to redline at lower boost, I didn't think too much of it until I noticed I'm picking up some knock at light throttle (ruled out with det cans), and the idle is a bit choppy to maintain at idle. I'm curious if this is something that could affect these two concerns, or just carry on with adjustments. I am using GSC S3 cams, so this is most likely the cause for the idle.

I'm certain there is a hundred things wrong with my base tune. We all start somewhere, though.

I very much appreciate any advice to dialing this in correctly, Thank you for taking the time.

Hi. Even on the GSC power-division site it says that S3 camshafts are the most aggressive ones and idle is rough comparing to stock...

Matthew,

I love that despite the car running well you're trying to make it even better.

It looks like you have the ignition firing order 1342 which is correct, then injection order 1423. I would expect the orders to be the same, both 1342 if converting to COP and sequential injection. I'm thinking maybe you've retained an injection setting that's a holdover from stock the stock wasted spark ignition system and maybe it was batch firing injectors which used to make that injector setting make sense. I'd confirm you're running sequential fuel injection then perhaps try firing the coils on cylinder 1 by reverting your offset value, and update injection order to match firing order. Full disclosure, this appears to be ECUMaster software and I use their PDMs, battery cutoffs, keypads, but not ECU so I may not be aware of a quirk of their ECU setup which requires you to enter the injection order in a manner that's unconventional.

Those cams will cause real aggressive idle on that engine.

Also, awesome car. I love seeing those and the Subaru Legacy SS of that era. They were both ahead of their time and really cool cars.
