RaceCraft Toyota 86 [BUILD UPDATE]

Some of you may remember our white Toyota 86, fitted with a stock FA20 engine and turbo kit. Well, we’ve been making a few changes to this, most noticeably of which is the signwriting to turn this into our RaceCraft car. For those of you who aren’t aware, RaceCraft is a company we launched in 2019 will run alongside High Performance Academy and in a similar format produce wise, however, RaceCraft will instead focus on teaching you how to optimise your car for the racetrack as well as providing driver training.

We’ve gone ahead and fitted a range of new suspension products with SPL Parts CNC machined alloy suspension arms in the back, a set of MCA coilovers and also MCA’s traction mod bracket to affect the anti squat geometry at the rear of the car. While we were doing this, we also installed a set of Hankook slicks.

The engine setup is very basic, Brian Crower conrods, HKS head gasket, ARP head studs and factory cast pistons which we have had no issues with, even though they run a 12.5:1 compression ratio with a turbo kit installed.

We have swapped out the original AVO turbo kit for a BorgWarner EFR 6758 and when we ran this on the dyno on 0.85 bar of boost peak, we made 394 horsepower at the rear wheels which is the most power the car has ever had. If you are wondering how we make that much power with that kind of compression ratio, this is because we are running on E85.

I am running 7 PSI of boost. on stock internals. I am thinking to keep the stock pistons too with forged rods. You've just confirmed it. Thank you. How much boost do you think the stock pistons can reliably take?
