He is a question that I didnt think I would be asking. Recently got my shortblock back from machine shop and pulling my parts together to assemble. This was a staled project started about 10 years ago and at that time I stored my lifters in oil, and they have been there since. Any concerns with using these lifters after they have been hanging out in oil for a decade ?

Thanks,

Nick

You should be fine, depending on the engine you may need to adjust pre-load and/or might have an issue with the valves being held off their seats until any excess oil is bled out.

What might be a problem is if they're used lifters as it's VERY bad practice to use them on different lobes from the ones they've been used on - very rapid wear to the camshaft and followers is the normal result!

We usually reply within 12hrs (often sooner)
