Hello, this might be a stupid post but I have a set of Manley h-tuff rods and when I was torquing the rod bolts down to check clearances, only one rod bolt was stretching. I torque each bolt in increments and went up to 60 ft lb ( Manley torque spec) and checked the stretch. Only one side was stretched to about 0.005, close to the stretch value that Manley says. The other bolt was at something like 0.001. I even torque just that one side to like 70 ft lb and it changed to 0.002. I even tried another rod and the same thing happened. What am I doing wrong? Thanks in advance.
Make sure you've got proper lubrication under the bolt head and/or nut (whatever turns). For checking clearances torquing untll the bolts just starts to stretch is OK, but for final assembly, you should torque until the bolt stretches the spec'ed amount.
Awesome, thank you!
