Is there an ideal AFR to target for cold start conditions . Obviously this will be different with load and temp but any general rules I can apply.
Very hard to say, as different combinations will have different fuelling requirements at different levels of 'cold'- even the fuel type and plug gap will affect it.
You could start with around 8:1 and see how that works - you can then lean or richen it as required for a stable idle and acceptable driveability.
