Good afternoon all,
I was hoping to get some insight from someone more knowledgeable than myself on the current issues I am having with my 1994 Pontiac Firebird. A little info on the car, it has the original Gen II small block 5.7L engine with a GM performance camshaft and a modernized LS ignition system called the 24x kit by torqhead. I installed these upgraded myself as I am a mechanic by trade and understand how to complete the work on the vehicle I just struggle with the aftermarket/modified vehicle diagnosis and fine tuning. The issue I’m having with the vehicle is that the engine bogs really badly and shakes whenever it is put at 100% throttle position. I have changed the spark plugs and gapped them tighter than factory specs thinking this may be the issue and I also have monitored fuel pressure at the rail using a mechanical fuel pressure gauge during the transition from cruising to WOT and found no significant drop in fuel pressure during that transition. I have been going back and fourth with a tuner I have been told is experienced with these vehicles and engine/PCM combinations however we haven’t been able to find the issue yet. Any pointers would be very much appreciated. Thanks, Jake.
Note: I will attach a data log and tune file from HP tuners off of the vehicle from my laptop shortly after this post. Thanks.
